Easter Egg Fillers for Teens and Tweens {Not Candy}

Easter egg hunts are a fun tradition for all ages, but finding the most enticing Easter Egg fillers for teens can get challenging. Who says they just want candy? In fact, you know it has to be worth it to get them off their phones and joining in the hunt! This year, ditch the jellybeans and fill your plastic eggs with these awesome Easter egg stuffer ideas that teens will love.

However, before we get into the fillers – how do you have a hunt that includes all ages? A couple of ideas are to assign a color to each child. Another way is to number the eggs and evey kid has to find one of each number. Finally, consider staged hunts for the different ages or including one special egg for each child. Now, back to the fillers!

Easter Egg Fillers Teens Will Actually Love

Think Practical:

  • Cash or Gift Cards: You can get creative but, at the end of the day, what do older kids need most? Cash (or it’s equivalent)! Consider putting amounts on slips of paper that can be redeemed for cash or game dollars.
  • Lottery Tickets (where legal): A chance to win big! Just be sure to follow the law in your area.

Techie Treats:

  • Small Portable Chargers & Cords: Teens are glued to their devices. A portable charger in a pinch is a lifesaver. And, there are never enough cords!
  • Earbuds: Extra earbuds are always a good idea, because they are easy to lose.

On-the-Go Fun:

Creative Inspiration:

  • Legos: Consider breaking up larger sets into many eggs (this would work best if you assigna specific color per set and consider numbering them to make sure you find them all!)
  • Jewelry Making Supplies: Beads, charms, and elastic cord for creating custom bracelets or necklaces.
  • Rocks or Fossils: Perfect for the science-minded collector.
  • Silly: Add a joke filler or notes teens will appreciate like, “Good Job, you found this Egg!” or a Rick-Rolling QR code.

Pampering Picks:

  • Face Masks: Sheet masks are a fun and relaxing way for them to take care of their skin.
  • Lip Balm or Gloss: Keep their lips hydrated and stylish with a fun mini lip balm or gloss.
  • Nail Polish: A new shade of nail polish is always a treat.
  • Hair Ties or Bobby Pins: Small but useful – these always come in handy.
  • Tattoos: Temporary, of course!

Gamify It!

  • Scavenger Hunt: Fill eggs with clues leading to a larger hidden Easter present. (Bonus: hunt at night with flashlights and glow sticks.
  • Time It: Hide the eggs (you don’t event have to fill them!) and when the timer is done who ever has the most eggs wins a pass from chores or other incentivizing prize. Similarly, you could add special eggs that have special prizes – like who ever has the Golden egg gets $20!

With a little creativity, you can make Easter egg hunts fun and rewarding for teens of all ages. There is no reason the older kids should be relegated to “helpers” when there are so many ways to include them in the celebration. What are you favorite Easter egg fillers for teens and tweens?
