Sometimes we hide from the heat, sometimes the rain – for whatever your needs we have the big list of Houston’s FREE Indoor Playgrounds. There are so many nice options to let our littles play, climb and explore!

Christ the King Presbyterian Church (Spring Branch)

1201 Silber Rd, Houston, TX 77055

Christ the King has an air-conditioned indoor play area as well as a great outdoor park. The indoor is open Monday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (or until capacity). Check the calendar before you go.

Crosspoint Church Pearland

1134 Old Alvin Rd, Pearland, TX 77581

Their playland is called Adventure Point and is open on Wednesdays & Fridays, 9:30 a.m. to noon. You will need socks and an insurance card (for the waiver). It is available to rent for birthday parties too, email events@crosspointchurch.tv

First United Methodist Church (Downtown)

1320 Main Street @ Clay |Houston, TX 77002

At FUMC Houston their play area is called Main Street Indoor Park. It is open Monday – Wednesday, 9 am-noon. Check the site for specific closures. The play area is first-come, first-serve and restricted to 5 & under. Free reserved parking is available in the lot at Travis and Polk Streets. It is not available for party rentals.

Galleria

The Little Galleria is located on Level 2, north of Galleria Financial Center and generally follows mall hours.

Gallery Furniture (North)

6006 North Freeway, Houston, TX 77076

During store hours there is an indoor playground and a Texas-sized mattress to give kids a chance to have some fun. Plus, throughout the store are exotic birds and Capuchin monkeys. The store regularly offers free snacks, including cookies, ice cream, and popcorn, as well as provides a full-service restaurant.

Gallery Furniture Grand Parkway also has a giant jumping mattress, a 30,000-gallon aquarium, and an onsite greenhouse.

Houston’s First Baptist Church (610W & I-10W)

7401 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77024

The Play Land and Game Room at First Baptist is open to the public during Fitness & Recreation Center hours. Geared for ages 3-11. Expect altered hours during the summer. The facility is available for party rentals too.

IKEA’s Smaland

7810 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77024

Free for kids of a certain height, between the ages of 4 & 10, and completely potty-trained. They can be dropped off for one hour while you shop. It is open during regular store hours. Capacity is based on employees and can fill quickly.

Katy Mills Mall

The children’s play area is near the AMC theater and is open during mall hours.

Kingwood First Baptist Church

3500 Woodland Hills Dr, Kingwood, TX 77339

The indoor playground’s regular hours (September – May):

  • Monday & Thursday 2:30-4 pm
  • Tuesday & Wednesday 12:30-4 pm
  • Friday 10 am – 4 pm

Summer Hours (Second week of June – School begins):

  • Monday & Wednesday 9 am – 4 pm
  • Tuesday & Thursday 2:30-4 pm
  • Friday 10 am – 4 pm

Kingwood United Methodist Chruch

1799 Woodland Hills Dr, Kingwood, TX 77339

The playground at KUMC is open to children 6 & under. Their playground hours change during the summer and for church events. Check the website or call, 281–358-2137, before you go. Current hours are:

  • Monday – Thursday 2:30 pm – 4 pm
  • Friday 9 am – noon

Memorial Church of Christ

900 Echo Ln, Houston, TX 77024

Memorial Church of Christ has indoor and outdoor play areas open to the public. They are on different sides of the building though. Hours are Monday – Thursday 9:30 am – 3:30 pm and Friday 9:30 am – noon. You will need to ring the bell to gain access.

Memorial Drive UMC

13186 Memorial Dr., Houston, Texas 77079

Ages 10 and under are invited to play at their indoor structure. Normal hours are:

  • Tuesday 10 a.m. – noon
  • Wednesday 10 a.m. – noon
  • Thursday Th 10 a.m. – noon
  • Check their Facebook page for altered summer hours and impromptu closings.

Memorial City Mall

303 Memorial City Way, Houston, TX 77024

Frolic’s Castle is inside the mall near Sears and is free for kids under 48 inches. In the same area is a special area called Puffy’s Playground for toddlers under 32 inches.

Sugar Creek Baptist Church (Sugar Land)

13223 Southwest Fwy, Sugar Land, TX 77478

The playscape is designed for 10 and younger and socks are required. Normal hours are:

  • Monday & Tuesday 8 am – 4 pm
  • Wednesday 11 am – 4 pm
  • Thursday & Friday 8 am – 9:45 am and 2 pm – 4 pm
  • It is available for party rentals for kids ages 10 & under.

Willowbrook Mall

The children’s play area near Sears is appropriate for kids under 42 inches and is open during mall hours.

The Woodlands Church

1 Fellowship Dr, The Woodlands, TX 77384

The multi-story playland is open to the public Monday – Friday 8 am to 4 pm and has two sections. One section is for Toddlers and the other for ages 5-12. Socks are required and can be purchased on-site for a nominal fee.

There is also a splash pad that is open seasonally.

The Woodlands Mall

The children’s play area near Sears is appropriate for kids under 42 inches and is open during mall hours. It is definitely not what it used to be but there is still the carousel in the food court to round out play time.

The Woodlands United Methodist

It is appropriate for ages 3-9 and is no longer available for party rentals. The Safari Stop is open:

  • Sunday – Thursday noon – 6 pm
  • Friday 8 am – 6 pm
  • Saturday 8 am – 6 pm
