23 Margaritas for Cinco de Mayo!

Cinco de Derby Means You Can Wear a Sombrero With Your Dress

It is the double crown of margaritas! There are going to be two kinds of crowds this weekend – Cinco de Mayo people and Derby people. And, if all goes well we’ll all be wearing big stupid hats!

I can guarantee you I will be at the party with ‘ritas.

Their amazing combination of sweet and salty is perfect for late nights and hot afternoons and cheese. Yes, cheese is the kissing cousin of margaritas.

The recipe for frozen margaritas I grew up with (What? Your parents didn’t teach you how to make them?) is pretty simple and easy peasy.

The Classic Frozen Margaritas

  • 1 can frozen limeade
  • Triple Sec
  • Tequila
  • Ice
  • Coarse Salt
Classic Frozen Margaritas Recipe

Squish out the limeade into a blender. Fill the limeade can up 2/3 to 3/4 with tequila and top off with triple sec. If you like a little more orange use the 2/3 measure if you prefer a more tart margarita use the 3/4 measure. Fill the limeade can up twice with ice and add each to the blender. Blend until smooth and pour into salt-rimmed glasses. Enjoy (how could you not?).

Note: To make them on the rocks just use not-frozen limeade, mix the first three ingredients, and pour over ice.

Making a margarita can sometimes elude even the best people. This one time in a “Mexican” restaurant in Colorado they tried to give me one that didn’t even have lime! I know, my fault for going to a Mexican restaurant in Colorado. But, to help out the world and eliminate such future atrocities we have rounded up 22 more five-star recipes to get your weekend off to the right start!
