Quill and Ink DETAILS
From the organizer:
In the 1830s – long before the days of text, email, and social media – communicating with someone meant writing them a letter. Letter writing was a part of life for men and women living on the Texas frontier wishing to stay in touch with friends and family, and was very important during the Texas Revolution for communicating vital information. Writing two hundred years ago required tools very different from the pens and pencils we use today – quills and ink! Come try your hand at writing with a quill and ink, just like Sam Houston did during the Battle of San Jacinto.
SAN JACINTO DAY takes place on the first Saturday of each month. On that day, children can enter for free when accompanied by an adult family member who purchases a ticket. In addition, there will be a hands-on, interactive program designed to be enjoyed as a family scheduled for part of the day. Child entry is FREE all day with the purchase of an adult ticket, so bring the kids or grandkids and experience Texas history as a family! While groups are welcome to participate in the Family Day activity, free child admission only applies to families.
