Perfect for families celebrating Spring Break! Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens offers child-friendly activities in the gardens, in the historic house, and at the Lora Jean Kilroy Visitor Center.

• Free for ages 18 & younger
• $10 for adults

Activities | Daily Highlights

(11 a.m. to 1 p.m. unless otherwise noted)

  • Monday | Hope Cowan “Springtime Harp”
  • Tuesday | Houston Zoo “Texas Wetlands and Wildlife”
  • Wednesday | Texas Snakes “Reptile Encounter”
  • Thursday | Puppet Pizzazz “Living Flower Garden”
    (11 a.m. to noon & 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.)
  • Friday | Petting Zoo with “Farm Group” Zone
Activities | All Week

(10 a.m. to 4 p.m. unless otherwise noted)

  • Visit the House | On the first floor, talk to docents about the works of art. Visitors with children receive a special activity for imagining themselves in the role of a curator.
  • Visit the Gardens | Discover art-making activities, guest experts, and exploration stations related to history, nature, and springtime.
  • Art Walk | Take a walk through the formal garden spaces and discover inspirational connections between nature and the art inside the house.
  • Art Activity: Nature Rubbings | Make art with rubbing plates that show leaves, flowers, insects, and animal footprints that you can find in the gardens. (Location: Diana Terrace)
  • Historical Game Zone | Play outdoor games that were popular in early America, such as quoits, graces, jump rope, and shuttlecock. (Location: Diana Garden, near the fountain)
  • Tactile Play Zone | Have fun with wooden tree blocks, tumbled stones, shells, and other natural materials designed especially for young hands and minds. (Location: South Lawn)
  • Interactive Play | “Garden Giggles” with Brave Little Company features whimsical, garden-themed games to stretch the imagination. (10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. & 1:45 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.)
