Hide-and-Seek: A Homeschooling Success Story
Silver Linings That’s What It’s All About
Today we tried to play hide-and-seek. I was hiding behind the door in the bathroom and I could tell my older son did not want to come in because the light was off. So, he went away. A few moments later he returns with his younger brother who is only 11 months old and tried to make him enter the dark room. The baby did not cooperate.
Then, I began calling his name. He still wouldn’t come in. Then, I call out (thinking I’ve probably scarred him enough) to say I am coming out.
No response.
When I came out he is mad. I asked him why he didn’t just turn the lights on and he informed me that it was against the rules. He continued by telling me my coming out of hiding “foiled” the game.
I consider his appropriate use of “foiled” to mean the game was an unmitigated success! He may not agree…
