Collins Park Where Ninjas Go to Run

Bridgeland Treehouse Park

Collins Park

In Northwest Houston, near the Barabra Bush Library, is Collins Park.  It has a little of everything in a tidy, but not a compact footprint.  The play structures have been updated and are well maintained.  The park has many other amenities such as softball and soccer fields, a skate park, creek access for fishing, and trails along the Cypress Creek Greenbelt.

The large play structure is big enough to be exciting for older kids and surrounded by security bars for those of us with adventurous little people.  It is also roomy enough for an adult to get comfortably to the top.  In the same area are swing sets and zip-line/ monkey bar style structures and adjacent is the restroom (which are maintained and clean).

When you first enter the park from York Minster Dr. there is a skate park.

Between the skate park and the large play structure is a lot of green space, some covered pavilions & picnic tables (all are first come), as well as some older play structures.

If you cross the road from the big play structure you will arrive at the smaller play structure.  This is a great spot for little people and the equipment has been recently updated (within the last year).

Just behind it is a small hill that the kids love to run up to the top of and either roll or run back down.  If they decide to go over the hill you will want to go with them as that is the hike/ bike trail and further past is the creek.  There is also a sand volleyball court nearby.

If you follow the road past these structures you will pass a gazebo, soccer fields, and there are more picnic tables.  At the end of the parking lot near the second entrance/ exit are the softball fields. But, before you get to those is a covered Ninja Warrior-style obstacle course.

In a previous iteration, it was covered basketball courts. Now it is home to a covered Ninja course, some tables, hopscotch, four square, and a badminton court.

Collins is a great park and one that is on our regular rotation year round. It really has something for every age and stage. Plus, if the weather turns or it ends up being too hot there are some really great nearby back up “things to do!”
