Camp Life – Laundry DETAILS
From the organizer:
Clothes have always gotten dirty, especially for an army on the move! Before mechanical washing machines were invented, women relied on scrubbing their family’s clothes against a washboard to clean them, and then hanging them up on a line to dry. It could take all day to do a family’s laundry! Learn how laundry was done in the 1830s and help us clean some bandanas with an old-fashioned washtub and washboard. You might even get to take your bandana home with you once it’s dry!
SAN JACINTO DAY takes place on the first Saturday of each month. On that day, children can enter for free when accompanied by an adult family member who purchases a ticket. In addition, there will be a hands-on, interactive program designed to be enjoyed as a family scheduled for part of the day. Child entry is FREE all day with the purchase of an adult ticket, so bring the kids or grandkids and experience Texas history as a family! While groups are welcome to participate in the Family Day activity, free child admission only applies to families.
