The Arboretum and Nature Center
Several times a year the Houston Arboretum hosts professional development Educator Workshop Happy Hours. You work hard to make sure your students are having fun while learning, and they think continuing education for teachers should be the same! As such, they combing happy hour with a great time learning natural ways to incorporate the environment into your lessons. Along with cold cans of Saint Arnold, glasses of wine, and light snacks, each workshop will include hands-on outdoor experiences, activities to take with you, recommended supplemental materials, and 2 credit hours for SBEC.
The Holocaust Museum Houston
Explore the history of the Holocaust, human rights, and social justice through interactive workshops hosted at the Museum or on your school campus. Engage in guided discussions and activities designed for K-12 classrooms while learning about FREE programs and resources available at the Museum. Earn CPE and GT credits and receive a certificate of completion upon completing the program.
The Outdoor Education Center at Camp Olympia
Led by experienced, certified teachers, the Outdoor Education Center at Camp Olympia features a Texas TEKS aligned curriculum and takes a hands-on approach to learning in the beautiful Pineywoods of East Texas. We offer programs for multiple grade levels and serve public, private, and homeschool organizations. Our team of instructors is trained in the best practices for outdoor education.

Space Center University
An Educator Program is offered year-round for individuals and groups
- $350; The program needs at least 10 participants to open, max. 70
- 3-day program intensive program
- No on-site dormitories, hotel accommodations will need to be made by individuals
- Available year-round for students as well
We Back the Bay by Artist Boat
The program is open to 6th-12th grade teachers, with preference given to 6th-8th grade. We Back the Bay program allows students and teachers in the counties surrounding Galveston Bay to create learning legacies on their school campus that will improve the water quality of Galveston Bay.
