Galveston Greek Festival DETAILS

From the organizer:

celebrates Hellenism with food, wine, pastries, and dancing. Presented by The Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church at 714 19th Street in Galveston, Texas. Festival hours are Saturday, 11 AM – 7 PM and Sunday, noon to 5 PM. Rain or Shine.

Two full days of Opa! and YaSou!, the event features authentic food prepared on site, Greek wines, Greek beer, bouzouki, Greek DJ, dancing, vendors, gifts, and tours of the Church.

Souvenirs and merchandise from Greece are hand selected for the Galveston Greek Festival. Icons, jewelry, Greek Christmas ornaments, soaps, gift boxes, and much more make for unique gift giving. Grocery items like olive oil, olives, pasta, and other imported canned goods will be available too. Since supplies are limited, don’t hesitate to make your purchase right away!

Bouzouki and DJ entertainment is under the tent out back.

As you know, Greeks have a passion for line dancing that goes back more than two millennia. That’s why we’re going to encourage you to dance too. It’s not only a great way to digest your meal and stay fit, but also a great opportunity to make new friends with the people whose hands you’re holding while repeating the ‘step, kick, step, kick’ of the Bouzouki Beat.

Father Stelios Sitaras, our parish priest, will conduct educational tours of the church on Saturday 11am – 6pm and Sunday beginning at 12 noon. The public is invited to attend Divine Liturgy on Sunday, 9 am. The Service is approximately one hour in length.
