The Dog Days of Summer are Here – Let’s Celebrate with a GIVEAWAY!

It is hot.

No, really, it is really, really hot.

It’s cute when people are crying over their 84-degree heat wave. I get it. I sound callous, they probably don’t even have air conditioning. And, thank the good Lord above that we don’t have to shovel snow, but…it’s hot.

You know who is not hot. My dog, Bruce. She (yes, she) is smart. She swims all day. Particularly, if we are smart enough to give up on our pedantic human to-do lists and join her in the shady, cool pool. If some of her people are in the pool she will not stop swimming. If we are too silly to join her she still swims.

The point being, it is too hot to do anything. The dog days of summer are actually not even called that because we all just want to lay around and not move in the heat. It actually goes much farther back to when we, as a people, navigated by the stars. It is the time of year when the dog star, Sirius, appears to rise just before the sun, in late July.

Dog Days Bruce

Bruce does not care about which stars are where. She knows when it is time to relax and does it. It seems so simple but is certainly one of the hardest things to master. The art of doing nothing.

If I get a few minutes, I then try to get just one more thing done! But, it’s too hot and I should probably take a cue from Bruce. Take some deep breaths (or pants, that’s yoga breathing, right?) and dive into relaxation. At least long enough to forget the last item on my to-do list…
