Whole New Year Why I Am Doing A Whole30

Whole New Year – Whole30?!

While resolutions were off the table this year, per se, making changes to be better is the goal. Part of that is the one task us moms have a really hard time with – taking care of ourselves. Since I carried my 9+ lb. baby, this body has had a whole slew of aches and pains and a general feeling of “what now?!”

In an attempt to rectify some of this and get back to movement and maybe some (ahem, all) of my clothes being tight I’ll be hopping on the Whole30 bandwagon of change and empowerment. It’s just 30 days. I can do anything for 30 days.

If this is where you’re like, “I’m outta here!” that’s okay.? This is not a diet blog, I get it.

In that vein, this will be the only post about it because my thirty days of Whole30 will be hosted over at Cave Cookery. So, don’t write us off if you are not interested we are not going to inundate you with food pictures or try to sell you a wrap – this is it! But, if you are, starting January 22nd we’ll be blogging our Whole30 journey on that site.

If you are interested in Whole30 and could not get around to starting on January 1st, then come with us late bloomers and start on January 22nd.

So, why Whole30?

  1. I have done it before so I know I can do it. Simple enough. When starting something new, setting up new habits, wouldn’t it be great to already know you can succeed? It is great and doable!? I guarantee you I am not a part-time fitness model who ate a croissant and now has a pooch. If I can do it, you can do it.
  2. It’s only thirty days. Really. If you keep even a marginal interest in diets you may have heard that Paleo, Whole30, Keto and the like “rank” very low. That is largely because it is very restrictive. That is on purpose. It is not a “diet” you go on forever like South Beach or Weight Watchers. It is an elimination diet you do for thirty days to reset your body. The idea being that you will reintroduce the restricted foods slowly to see how each affects your personal makeup.
  3. You can eat as much as you want and don’t have to count calories. Really. It is a pretty simple formula of protein, veggies, and good fat. Stick to that and go crazy – even “fried” foods. Remind me to talk to you about onion rings. Excuse me I need to go put onions on my shopping list.

If you are interested then follow along at Cave Cookery or one of the social sites, they all get pushed through –yay, technology! (Instagram, Facebook). If this is not your bag then at least take a moment to figure out what you can do to make you better – set up that Well Woman, take yourself on a coffee date, whatever it is to get your brain and body in a better state.

Have you done a Whole30? Any tips for success?
