All About Atta Ants DETAILS

From the organizer:

There is a large Texas Leaf Cutting Ant (Atta texana) colony at Jones Park. They have a habit of cutting leaves and taking them into their large, underground colony where they use it to raise fungus, which they then eat and feed to their larvae. Learn more about these interesting insects in a program in the nature center, and then take a ½ mile hike on a paved trail to see their colony. All ages are welcome. Wear closed-toed shoes for the hike.
