Civentures: Discover the World One Week at a Time | A Free Homeschool Preschool Curriculum

Civentures: Exploring the World One Week at a Time

Civentures is a 52-week curriculum for preschoolers.  It is thoughtful and interesting and aims to be a great resource for your family.  The curriculum is designed to ignite curiosity and wonder. The quantity of resources is overly comprehensive so that you can choose how much or how little you want to incorporate each week.

The curriculum focuses on hands-on learning as well as remaining developmentally appropriate.

What is Civentures?

‘Civ’ comes from the Latin civis, meaning ‘citizen.’  And, ‘venture’ is, of course, most closely related with ‘adventure’ to engage in an unusual and exciting experience (no danger or hazards)!  That is the experience we will take the kids on using history as our framework! Consequently, CIVENTURES is a 52-week discovery program for preschool and kindergarten-aged children.

Let’s Begin!

Civentures is a work in progress so check back to see what we’ve added on!

The Daily Elements of Civentures are:

  • Morning Circle/Play Time Discovery: A beginning time to gently introduce the day and topic – a book, a song, a relevant self-directed play experience
  • Movement: Movement is essential to development, particularly crossing the midline activities. We will learn to use our bodies in a fun way to develop healthy mind-body connections and promote coordination.
  • Fine Motor Discovery: Gross motor skills are still in development and need to be nurtured.  These activities will be focused on using the hands.
  • Fun Food: An opportunity for children to begin learning kitchen skills and table manners.
  • Art Discovery: Exposing children to different styles of art throughout history. Beginning an introduction to various artists and art appreciation.
