Join us at the Nature Center at Stephen F. Austin State Park (located one mile west of San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site) as we discuss the Fredonian Rebellion!
In 1827, militiamen from Austin’s Colony made it to Nacogdoches at the request of the Mexican government. There, they were to assist with putting down a small rebellion led by other Texians hoping to declare independence from Mexico (much earlier than the rest of their neighbors).
Learn about the causes of the rebellion as well as the response by Austin’s Colony and Mexico.
Admission to Stephen F. Austin State Park required. Texas State Park Pass holders admitted free of charge!
