From the Organizer: Rent-a-Ruminant® goats return to the Houston Arboretum for “mowing” around the 610 Parking Loop area May 3-10 Media and the public welcome to come and view the activity The goats from Rent-a-Ruminant® Texas return to the Houston Arboretum May 3 – 10 to “mow” the overgrown vegetation in the 2.3 acre area encircled by the 610 Parking Loop. The popular animals made appearances in October and November of 2020 when they worked on the vegetation and invasive species around the Woodway Loop ponds and 7-acre savanna areas respectively, while in March 2021, they “landscaped” the 2.6-acre Meadow area. Homeschool Day at Washington on the Brazos
From the organizer: Join us for Homeschool History Day this Spring of 2022 and learn about the importance of the Brazos River in our history! Homeschool families and groups will be able to explore the sites and demonstrations at your own pace. Ticketing for the event will be a flat rate depending on the number of passengers per vehicle. Vehicles containing 1-6 passengers will be charged $20. Vehicles containing more than 6 passengers will be charged $30. Tickets can be purchased the day of on arrival at the site. From the organizer: The Port to Port History Tour is a cruise east of downtown on Buffalo Bayou from Allen’s Landing to the Port of Houston Turning Basin. In 1914 with the opening of the Houston Ship Channel and the modern Port of Houston, the section of Buffalo Bayou from the port’s turning basin to the foot of Main Street (now known as Allen’s Landing) was called the upper channel. Very few Houstonians today get to experience the upper channel by boat which has a very different environment from that of the bayou west of downtown. On the second Saturday of every month from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the Ocean Star celebrates Family Day. Each Family Day focuses on a different theme that relates to the oil and gas industry. The information is presented at a student’s level using activities or experiments. We encourage parents to bring their children aboard and experience family-learning and quality time at a reduced cost.
