From the organizer: The Port to Port History Tour is a cruise east of downtown on Buffalo Bayou from Allen’s Landing to the Port of Houston Turning Basin. In 1914 with the opening of the Houston Ship Channel and the modern Port of Houston, the section of Buffalo Bayou from the port’s turning basin to the foot of Main Street (now known as Allen’s Landing) was called the upper channel. Very few Houstonians today get to experience the upper channel by boat which has a very different environment from that of the bayou west of downtown. From the organizer: Space Center Houston Cub Scout Overnight Experiences is excited to welcome back Scouts. To ensure a safe environment for our campers and crew members, we ask all participants to review our new health and safety policies and procedures as well as our Overnight Experience FAQ before participating. Each overnight is tailored to the individual ages of the Scouts. The activities are badge-inspired, STEM-based and all about space! From the organizer: Houston Shakespeare Festival The Houston Shakespeare Festival debuted in 1975 when Dr. Sidney Berger, then director of the School of Theatre at the University of Houston, met with UH administrators and the Miller Theatre Advisory Board to enlist support for a two-production season of Shakespeare’s works to be played in repertory on Miller Theatre’s bill. Berger and UH theatre professor Cecil Pickett went on to direct a pair of plays each summer, performing free to the public at Hermann Park’s Miller Outdoor Theatre in this unique collaboration between a city and a university.
