Scarecrow Festival (Chappell Hill) The Festival boasts more than 250 juried exhibitors (home décor, gardening, artists, craftsmen, jewelry, clothing, etc.), delicious country-style food, live entertainment and music, and tours of the historic community. A special Children’s Activity Corner provides pony rides, a petting zoo, face painting, barrel train and more. The Festival is hosted by the Chappell Hill Historical Society, a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to the preservation of the community’s history and historic buildings. Sandy beach access to the calm waters of this seafood nursery abound with life! Yoga @ Levy Park Bayou Bliss Yoga presents a low-impact physical and spiritual fitness program which includes breath control, simple meditation, and bodily postures focused on improving physical flexibility, strength, and mental relaxation. Ocean Star Offshore Drilling Rig & Museum Family Day On the second Saturday of every month from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the Ocean Star celebrates Family Day. Each Family Day focuses on a different theme that relates to the oil and gas industry. The information is presented at a student’s level using activities or experiments. We encourage parents to bring their children aboard and experience family-learning and quality time at a reduced cost. Children 18 years of age and younger are admitted free with a paying chaperone. Reach For The Stars STEM Festival "Reach for the Stars" with a Festival on the Rice University campus, just for middle school girls! The day begins with a street fair at 11 am, with a box lunch and an Astronaut talk at 1 pm (all in the Engineering Quad). Then two hands-on workshops led by women scientists and engineers, at various locations and labs around campus. The fee helps pay for the lunches but does not come close to covering all expenses. KBR Kids Day KBR Kids Day is one of Buffalo Bayou Partnership’s signature events, with thousands of children and their families in attendance each year enjoying free family fun! Activity stations will include numerous hands-on activities from over 20 Houston partners, local entertainment and performers, Dia de los Muertos face painters, balloon artists, a rock climbing wall, and so much more! Costumes encouraged! There will also be a birds of prey show and a Halloween Costume Parade. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.
Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts Family Day The Pearl offers free monthly Family Days with hands-on art projects, artist demonstrations, performances, and more. Projects are designed for ages 5 and up, and can be enjoyed by both children and adults! The featured art projects are inspired by current exhibitions, seasonal holidays, or other concurrent events. Family Days are typically held the 2nd Saturday of the month from 11:00am-3:00pm, but may vary depending on other events happening at the museum. The Haunting at Bear Branch The Haunted Trail at Bear Branch will have your heart pounding as a tour guide walks you through Hollywood Horror. You can expect to be terrified at this nightmarish outdoor stroll! The trail is recommended for ages 9 and up and tickets must be purchased in person for $9 each.
