Parents and students looking for an exciting variety of summer break activities can find it at Woodchase Park. A robust slate of summer break activities are planned throughout June & July daily.
Weekly Crafts, Games and Face Painting
Wednesdays, June 15, 22, 29 & July 20, 27 at 1 p.m., Join Quillian Center’s Summer Camp staff for fun on the lawn, including summer crafts, lawn games and face painting.
Moreover, throughout the week, you will find beginner ballet, volleyball, water play, Guess in 10, and more.
Young Audiences of Houston | Summer Break at Woodchase Park
In addition, Young Audiences of Houston presents music, theater, dance, and storytelling fun at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturdays through July:
June 4 10 a.m. Hip Hop with Kenny Louis – Participants learn hip hop dance moves from professional dancer Kenny Louis. Recommended for all ages. 3 p.m. Art in the Park – Judy Malone-Stein leads a free visual arts workshop teaching concepts of spatial relationships, balance, patterning, geometric shapes and kinetic energy. |
June 11 10 a.m. Houston Drumming with Jorge Orta – Participants learn hip hop dance moves from professional dancer Kenny Louis. Recommended for all ages. 3 p.m. Art in the Park – Junrui Garcia leads a free visual arts workshop teaching sand art. Students will explore different ways of manipulating sand as a media to create artwork. Recommended for ages 2 and up. |
June 18 10 a.m. Music Workshop with Monica Isomura – Students will learn how to sing and play together through music, including how to match pitch and sing a tune Recommended for all ages. 3 p.m. Art in the Park – Junrui Garcia leads a free visual arts workshop teaching how cultures approach handwriting and calligraphy, turning both into art. Students will discuss handwriting in a digital age. Recommended for ages 2 and up. |

Special Events | Summer Break at Woodchase Park
Finally, there are some fantastic Special Events to look forward to:
Friday, June 3 at 7 p.m.
Worship Night – Come worship with Anthony Rogers and Nani Nicole of First Methodist Houston who will be joined by The Smiths. Bring your lawn chair and picnic blankets. Music will be in English and Spanish. Enjoy sweet treat vendors, Nom Tom Bot Food Truck and lawn games.
Tuesday, June 14 at 10 a.m.
Kids Party at the Park – First Methodist Houston hosts a party with crafts, games and music. All ages welcome.
Saturday, June 25 at 8 a.m.
Mindfulness + Wellness Day – Presented by Houston City Council Member Tiffany D. Thomas – District F, Mindfulness + Wellness Day celebrates International Yoga Day, guided by Jotina Buck, Mac, LCDC-I, LPC-A of Root + Yoke Wellness.
