Houston Arboretum | Home School Program
Home schoolers ages 5-12 will learn about the world of science!
Explore a new science topic each month with us at the Arboretum! Each class will consist of instructional time, hands-on investigations, and outside activities. Extension ideas will be provided to parents so they can follow up with lessons and activities at home.
Schedule: Three Mondays a month from 1:00 – 3:00 pm (classes for ages 5 – 6, 7 – 8, 9 – 10, and 11 – 12)
Member Price Per Student: $75 per three-week unit*
*Family Tree membership or above required to register.

This month is all about fish! Learn about our aquatic companions as we study their adaptations, get to know the many species that live here in Texas, and hear about important conservation efforts. We will even learn to use a cane pole and have fun trying out our catch and release fishing skills.

Nature is fascinating after the sun goes down. From fireflies to foxes, learn how animals thrive and survive after dark. Come get to know the nocturnal animals on the night shift at the Arboretum.

What do mice, whales, and humans have in common? They are all mammals! Learn about this diverse and fascinating group of animals while discovering some of the mammals who live right here in Texas.
December 5, 12, 19
Plants and animals adapt to survive. This month we will look at the physical and behavioral adaptations that various organisms possess, allowing them to survive and thrive in different habitats.
