It all makes SENSE!
Thursday, February 16
Observation skills are key to a student’s understanding of science and nature. In this class we’ll play games and engage our senses in activities designed to help you experience the world around you in new ways. Take home supplies for a scent-based game to use with your students.
Thursday, April 20
Want to incorporate plants into your classroom lessons but unsure how to start? Join this class to learn new ways to teach plant biology, life cycles, and food webs. We’ll explore the Arboretum pollinator garden, dissect a flower, and take home a botanical craft made in class.
Sundown in the Savanna
Thursday, May 18
Insects and other invertebrates abound in the savanna ecosystem. Learn how to use a sweep net to sample invertebrate populations while practicing your identification skills using a dichotomous key. We’ll each make our own DIY sweep nets and “No Bones” dichotomous key activity sets to take home.
