Gratitude Cards | Open Studio @ CAMH Create a set of three cards using printmaking relief techniques inspired by artist Nari Ward. About Open Studio CAMH’s Open Studio sessions feature drop-in, hands-on activities that draw inspiration from the exhibitions on view. During these sessions participants will have an opportunity to explore imaginative concepts inspired by world-renowned artists who show at the Museum by making your own artworks in response to theirs. Experiment with new materials, explore fresh ideas, and make new friends. Whether you stay for five minutes or two hours, you’re invited to interact with art in new and profound ways at Open Studio.
Becoming an Outdoors Girl We offer the opportunity for girls to learn new skills associated with outdoor activities in a safe environment. This free program is geared toward girls in 6th through 12th grade. All activities are outside. First Saturday Bolivar Flats Nature Walk Come explore Bolivar Flats Shorebird Sanctuary and see what the forces of nature have left for us on the beach and in the wrack lines with Sanctuaries Manager Pete Deichmann. You’ll walk along the beach and out onto the flats discovering the diversity of life along the gulf coast. It's a perfect opportunity for a family day trip. Sandy beach access to the calm waters of this seafood nursery abound with life! Meet our naturalist guides at the newly renovated Nature Center at 10:00 am for a brief orientation before heading to the water's edge. We'll explore for about 75 minutes. Yoga @ Levy Park Bayou Bliss Yoga presents a low-impact physical and spiritual fitness program which includes breath control, simple meditation, and bodily postures focused on improving physical flexibility, strength, and mental relaxation. This hour-long program is open to Yogis of all levels. Yoga mats and yoga blocks are provided by Levy Park for your convenience.
MECA Dia de los Muertos Festival Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a uniquely Mexican festivity and Latin American tradition observed annually on November 1st and 2nd. Día de los Muertos is a culmination of pre-Colombian heritage and Catholic influence honoring the souls of the dead in a lively, cheerful celebration. Our ancestors and dearly departed are beckoned to return in a spirited show of music, dance, theater, visual art and most essentially through a display of altars, or ofrendas. Vibrant marigolds, papel picado, food, water, Christian Saints and symbols adorn heartfelt altars in hope that these honored souls might accept
