Katy Rice Festival Friday’s event will be “Octoberfest” with live music, carnival, food trucks and beer garden from 6-11 PM (free); Saturday will kick-off with the parade at 9 AM (free) and the festival will be from 10 AM-10 PM; Sunday gates will be open from 12-6 PM. Come enjoy quality arts & craft vendors, fun carnival, great live music, excellent food and drinks - fun for the whole family! Scarecrow Festival (Chappell Hill) The Festival boasts more than 250 juried exhibitors (home décor, gardening, artists, craftsmen, jewelry, clothing, etc.), delicious country-style food, live entertainment and music, and tours of the historic community. A special Children’s Activity Corner provides pony rides, a petting zoo, face painting, barrel train and more. The Festival is hosted by the Chappell Hill Historical Society, a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to the preservation of the community’s history and historic buildings. Reach For The Stars STEM Festival "Reach for the Stars" with a Festival on the Rice University campus, just for middle school girls!  The day begins with a street fair at 11 am, with a box lunch and an Astronaut talk at 1 pm  (all in the Engineering Quad). Then two hands-on workshops led by women scientists and engineers, at various locations and labs around campus.  The fee helps pay for the lunches but does not come close to covering all expenses.
