THE MAGNOLIA STROLL The Magnolia Stroll is a charming tree-shaded half-mile pedestrian walkway connecting Magnolia Sixth Grade Campus at the south end to Sullivan Park, a newly refurbished park, and Farmers Market to the north. Serving as a pathway for a leisurely walk or a brisk jog offering opportunities for walkers to exchange a morning "hello" while they move about The Stroll, it features things such as beautiful street arbors, seating walls, public art locations, and rest areas suiting Magnolia's character and settings. Come join one of our weekly explorations of the connections between the mainland and our island paradise - Galveston Bay. Sandy beach access to the calm waters of this seafood nursery abound with life! Meet our naturalist guides at the newly renovated Nature Center at 10:00 am for a brief orientation before heading to the water's edge. We'll explore for about 75 minutes. Houston Jazz Festival The Houston Jazz Collective presents an evening of Texas artistic mastery featuring heralded jazz musicians Hubert Laws and Shelley Carrol and the work of acclaimed Houston visual artist Jesse Lott. This is a homecoming for native Houstonian Hubert Laws who is a 2011 NEA Jazz Master’s recipient and triple Grammy nominee. A founding member of The Jazz Crusaders, Laws studied at Julliard and under the tutelage of Julius Baker before going on to play with the MET Opera and the New York Philharmonic.
