Corona and homeschooling – not usually two words that go together! Hopefully, you are embracing this new opportunity, the coronavirus has afforded us, as a gift to spend time with your kiddos as unexpected homeschoolers. But, we all know, even gifts can not be exactly what you want – and, that’s okay! Fortunately, making the best of an unexpected situation will help you stay sane and productive. It is time to be glass-half-full people! Rythym Not Schedule Do you have a regular pizza and movie night? Your kids look forward to it. They ask about it and plan for it. That is a family rhythm. There are so many color-coded schedules being passed around right now. I can guarantee you a home rhythm will make your family happier than a schedule. The difference is, with a rhythm you eat three meals a day. With a schedule, you eat breakfast at 8 am, lunch at noon, dinner at 6 pm. A great rhythm is a flow from one activity to the next that creates an overall familiar pattern from day to day. It really helps you to keep moving forward and the expectation is a sanity saver! Quarantine Week 2 (a.k.a. What To Do When You Can’t Go Out)

Quarantine Week 2 – things are not back to normal. Last week was full of uncertainty. This week is probably going to be focused on setting up that new routine, not going stir crazy, and collectively praying we do not end up on full lockdown. TP is still a mysteriously popular commodity. All in-person events are still canceled. Remember to get your information from a reputable source like the CDC. Though that guy who your sister knew in high school on Facebook really seems to know what he’s talking about. There may still be places open please use discretion and judgment before heading out. Fortunately, we live in the best city so use this time to share the love. If you are financially able, tip better, order food more, and buy something from a small business even if it is a little different and you don’t need it (your local shopping strips and farmer’s markets are a great place to start). It sounds like a great week (or eight) to stay in! Nearly all events have been canceled and the CDC is recommending if you do go out to follow some basic guidelines.
