Bay Exploration at Galveston Island SP @ Galveston Island State Park | Galveston | Texas | United States

Hands-on discovery of what’s lurking beneath the murky bay waters.

Come join one of our weekly explorations of the connections between the mainland and our island paradise – Galveston Bay. Meet our volunteer guides at the Nature Center at 10:00 am for a brief orientation and restroom break before we drive towards the bay. Explorations generally last 75 minutes.

Discover the wetlands with a close-up look at the critters, grasses and birds that inhabit the marshland and bay.   Tour activities include hands-on-seining, fiddler crab sightings and more under the guidance  of  Friends of Galveston Island State Park (FoGISP) volunteers.

What to bring:

  • Park entry permit (received at park HQ on beach side of park)
  • Clothes & shoes to get wet (optional)
  • Water bottle
